At Dierdorf Californians we have two main objectives: to produce the highest quality show and breeding rabbits and the best meat pens possible. We strive to be Nationally competitive in these areas. We also believe that the greatest compliment is to produce rabbits that "breed on" for others. We want our animals to help improve the quality of their progeny for their new owners.
It has taken a few years to develop the kind of rabbit we like and several animals to find the type to produce what we look for. Herd introductions were often in the beginning and have slowed down to a few or none per year presently. There are some charactistics you will find in our Californians. They have to have full, wide, deep loins that are hard. They must have depth, front and rear, and they need to have good fur to stay here.
Our background is in purebred hogs, so our terminology tends to run that way, but the same traits that produce superior hogs tend to produce superior rabbits.
Frame size, width and capacity throughout the body, good feed conversion and rate of gain are all parts of a healthy animal that can take some stress, adapt to various conditions and housing and PERFORM ! Our Cals are raised in a large pole barn with ambient temperature all year.
Look us over and the next time you consider adding a Cal to your herd, give us a call or shoot us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org

We recently added several animals from the Wayne Coffey dispersal sale. Those animals were chosen for their genetics and type. We may now have the largest concentration of Coffey and Nadeau genetics in the US. We look forward to carrying on Wayne's efforts and lines. We will miss you greatly my friend.
